MEST-UP has worked with young people from youth organisations from around the world and with schools here in Britain, offering peer: mediation, education and support. Standing for Mediation, Education, Support Team – Umbrella Project, MEST-UP has been the figurehead project of “DFs”, which is part of the youth charity “The Woodcraft Folk”. The project workers are young volunteers from DFs, with ages ranging from 16-25 who have worked young people from different backgrounds through their work with The Woodcraft Folk.

MEST-UP runs centres at youth festivals and camps, with ‘safe spaces’ to offer support; mediation sessions to support conflict resolution; drop-in peer-education dealing with a wide range of issues; and exciting and interesting workshops aimed at different ages . The project also runs sessions in schools and colleges, training young people in mediation and/or peer-education skills that they can use in their daily lives. The project continually looks for different ways to offer its services to the wider community.

MEST-UP has young workers based around the country, with a concentration in Northern England and the Midlands, who regularly travel to locations across the country wherever the service is needed.

DFs is a UK wide youth organisation of 16–21 year olds which specialises in peer education and is part of The Woodcraft Folk, a wider organisation with the mottos of “Empowering Young People” and “Education for Social Change”.
